Karakoram. The magic 7000 meters. Spantik is a spectacular peak located in Nagar Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Gasherbrum II (8032m) is one of the most obtainable 8000m summits, being the 13th highest of the 14 8000m peaks, with Shishapangma being the 14th and a difficult climb to reach the true summit. It lacks the steeper slopes that other 8000 meter peaks have, and it also doesn’t have technical or mixed climbing on the southwest ridge, our route of choice. Finally, summit rates on the peak are quite good even in marginal weather.

The Kharta valley is tucked into the eastern side of Mount Everest, with most people visiting the region to view the wild side of Everest, the seldom seen Kangshung face. We will visit Kharta valley on this trek, and then head for a first ascent of a 6000m peak just above, completing the trip with a visit to unique Lhasa, the ancient capital of Tibet.

Labuche Kang III is an excellent next climb for those with 6000 meter experience or for the seasoned Himalayan veteran who is looking for something new.

We have developed our itinerary both to avoid the Everest trek crowds and to allow our bodies to adjust to the ever increasing altitude. While the altitude does present its own challenges, the climbing on both Mera (6476m) and Baruntse (7129m) Peaks is non-technical but still warrants safety ropes and guides to avoid crevasses.
